BoulderFest 2005Boulderfest 2004
July 13-17, 2005
Boulder, Colorado

BoulderFest Integrative Medicine Conference Mission Statement:
Disease, wherever met, and in whatever form manifested, is an impairment of vitality; and that all agencies employed in the treatment of disease should act in one of two ways - removing the depressing cause, and increasing the vital powers for better resistance and subsequent restoration of structure and function.
Dr. John M. Scudder

Noteworthy:  Jonny Bowden will be presenting "A Comparison of Low Carbohydrate Diets: Which Works Best for Which Patient?"

In this presentation, Jonny Bowden will share his unique and entertaining perspective on exactly what we can learn from low-carb science, where the low-carb movement has sabotaged itself, and how we can use all the current research in our clinical practice. First, what do we mean when we say that a diet is low in carbohydrates? There are 16 commercial diets that are commonly referred to as low-carb. Mr. Bowden will review the history of this dietary approach. He will then discuss the emerging research on the safety and efficacy of these diets with regard to heart disease, metabolic syndrome, obesity and inflammation. The most effective low-carb plans will be compared and analyzed, and clinical suggestions will be made.
