The Carbohydrate Awareness Council is committed to
encouraging health and well-being through
controlled-carbohydrate nutrition. Our guiding
principles are built on a foundation of
scientific-evidence, honesty and service.
Founded in November 2003, the Carbohydrate Awareness
Council promotes and supports
the scientific evidence of controlled-carbohydrate
nutrition. We act together with
our members in uncompromising integrity and singleness
of purpose.
Our belief is that the
scientific evidence supports controlled-carbohydrate
nutrition for both weight loss and healthy weight
management. It is our mission to educate
consumers, researchers, medical professionals and those
in industry about the scientifically supported use of
controlled-carb diets
for weight loss and long-term weight management and
health and offer it as an option where appropriate.
We
achieve our mission by:
-
Uniting
diverse nutritional approaches in a shared common
vision and goals - weight management and health as
supported by scientific evidence.
-
Providing
our consumers a voice in our organizations recommendations to
industry.
-
Encouraging
member commitment, involvement, and mutual
respect.
-
Offering
a comprehensive range of services and programs to
our members and the general public.
-
Advocating for the consumer and healthcare
professional through speaking engagements and
publishing news and analysis affecting our
professional members and consumers.
-
Championing
the scientific evidence to consumers, the medical,
scientific and nutrition community and public policy
makers with solid research data as our foundation.
