Carbohydrate Awareness Council Committees

The Carbohydrate Awareness Council is successful in its mission through the active participation of our members. Through the organization committees, members are able to interact, develop and deploy strategies and address issues in a timely manner.

Carbohydrate Awareness Council Committees

Industry Relations Committee
The Industry Relations Committee is tasked with addressing issues relevant to the industry. 

Qualifications to participate on this committee: CAC Membership and an interest in industry issues.
Consumer Relations Committee 
The Consumer Relations Committee is tasked with addressing issues relevant to consumers and the general public. 

Qualifications to participate on this committee: CAC Membership with a strong history of consumer advocacy.
Scientific Advisory Committee
The Scientific Advisory Committee is tasked with reviewing the scientific evidence as it becomes available and approving CAC positions based on the evidence. 

Qualifications to participate on this committee:  by appointment of the Chief Scientific Officer after review of Educational Credentials, Publications in a Peer-Reviewed Journal and no major conflicts-of-interest.
Health & Nutrition Education Committee
The Health & Nutrition Education Committee is tasked with creating educational materials for consumers, the general public, industry and healthcare professionals. The work product of this committee is reviewed by the Scientific Advisory Committee before release to the public.

Qualifications to participate in this committee:  Member CarbAware and Educational credentials with a desire to educate interested parties. 
Events Committee
The Events Committee helps in planning Carbohydrate Awareness Council events and meetings throughout the year. 


Qualifications to participate in this committee:
  Member of CarbAware with strong organizational skills.
Government Relations Committee
The Government Relations Committee works to provide government agencies and public policy makers with information related to controlled-carb nutrition for their use in the development of public policy.  They also follow legislation and regulatory issues to keep CarbAware Members apprised of relevant issues. 

Qualifications to participate in this committee:  Member of CarbAware -OR- Government employee assigned as liaison to the council.
